Religious Education

The aim of our Religious Education Program is to help students:
- develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- develop an awareness, understanding and appreciation of the Catholic Tradition as it is witnessed in Sacred Scriptures and in the teaching of the Church
- be inspired to work for the continuing coming of the Kingdom
Religious Education lessons are taught each day in every classroom. Our teachers follow the diocesan Religious Education Syllabus program which is called 'Sharing Our Story'. Students are encouraged to reflect on themselves, the world and God in light of personal experience, sacred scripture and tradition.
Three sacramental programs are taught across the school. Year Two students are prepared for their first Sacrament of Reconciliation, Year Three students for their first Holy Communion and Year Six students for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Parents are encouraged to be involved in the preparation of their child for these sacraments as we recognise that parents are the primary educators of their children.
We gather each fortnight to celebrate a School Mass in St. Michael's Cathedral. Each class takes a turn to organise the readings and prayers for these Masses. Years Three to Six attend the Sacrament of Reconciliation each term. Prayer is also an integral part of our daily life in our classrooms.
Our students are encouraged to put their Catholic faith into action by organising and participating in a variety of charitable works. We support Caritas, Catholic Missions and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Some of the ways in which theses charities are supported are by cake stalls, raffles, mufti days, clothing drives and mission days.
